Munich Re America donates $200,000 to the American Red Cross to aid Hurricane Sandy relief efforts

Princeton, New Jersey, 2 January 2013 – Munich Reinsurance America, Inc., the US subsidiary of Munich Re, recently donated $200,000 to the American Red Cross to aid hurricane relief efforts.
“We are pleased to make this donation to the America Red Cross to help those impacted by Hurricane Sandy,” Anthony Kuczinski, President and CEO of Munich Reinsurance America, said. “We know many people in our area are still recovering from this devastating storm and this donation will help in their time of need.”
Since Hurricane Sandy hit the East Coast, the Red Cross has provided shelter for thousands of people, served more than 9 million meals and snacks, distributed more than 6.7 million relief items including cleanup kits and hygiene kits, and has provided more than 103,000 health services and emotional support contacts to provide help and comfort to people affected by the storm since relief efforts began on 29 October 2012.
"The destruction caused by Superstorm Sandy impacted millions of people, including those hit hard in New Jersey and New York,” said Mathieu Nelessen, regional CEO of the American Red Cross North Jersey Region. "We are so grateful for the generosity of Munich Re America in support of our work."
