The UK's Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) place duties on people and companies who own, operate, or have control over specific types of plant and equipment. A wide range of equipment is covered by PUWER; from bulldozers and dumper trucks, to pallet trucks and air compressors.
A requirement of PUWER is that, in many cases, equipment is subjected to statutory, periodic 'thorough examination' by a 'Competent Person'.
