Forward-looking, with a family feel, we have over 800 talented employees across the UK and Ireland who are focused on delivering exceptional technical expertise and quality customer service to our customers.

Our engineering employees make up a large proportion of our workforce. Many are field-based, performing their duties at customer sites; enabling them to build and maintain excellent face-to-face customer relationships.

Types of engineering careers we offer

From boilers and lifts, to mobile cranes and air conditioning systems, our Engineer Surveyors inspect plant and machinery across all industry sectors. The role of an Engineer Surveyor is hands on and requires technical expertise in all disciplines – lift and crane, pressure, electrical, LEV and power press.

The nature of the role means that Engineer Surveyors need to be highly organised, technically expert, motivated and flexible. Our Engineer Surveyors operate within a defined career structure that recognises and rewards against achievable objectives. The structure includes higher level positions that include NVQ Assessors and Technical Trainers.

Our highly-specialist RMS Engineering Consultants are trained to deliver technical inspection support services which help businesses reduce risks, costs, and deliver compliance. This specialist engineering support includes thermography, condition monitoring, and loss control.

Technically expert, our Principal Engineers work with our engineering team to provide advice and guidance on inspection-related issues such as equipment, best practice and legislation. From steam-powered boats and locomotive engines to power stations, mobile cranes and a wide range of specialist mechanical and electrical systems, our Principal Engineers set and communicate the standards our Engineer Surveyors operate within.

The role also includes working with outside committees (such as the Safety Assessment Federation) to help create approved British working practices and standards within engineering inspection.

Our Regional Engineering Managers are responsible for managing a multi-skilled team of field-based Engineer Surveyors, providing support with engineering inspections and liaising with customers to ensure high quality contract delivery. From inspecting a mobile crane, coaching an Engineer Surveyor or attending a client meeting, the variety of the role means that no two days are the same.

Regional Engineering Managers must be organised, customer focused, collaborative and highly motivated.

I really enjoy the variety of my role. One day, I can be on the jib of a tower crane and the next, inspecting an escalator in a shopping centre. No two days are the same.
