HSB appoints new Managing Director of its engineering insurance business

• Terry Dyson promoted to Managing Director for its engineering insurance business

Specialist engineering and technology insurer, HSB, has announced the promotion of Terry Dyson as Managing Director. In this newly created role, effective from 1 October 2024, Dyson will lead HSB's Engineering Insurance business, reporting to HSB UK and Ireland CEO, Stephen Worrall.

Terry Dyson's appointment forms part of HSB reshaping its engineering insurance business to drive continued profitable growth through its core insurance products: equipment breakdown, construction, computer and cyber; and its inspection services.   

To achieve this, Dyson's role will focus on enhancing HSB's value proposition and customer experience to insurance brokers, insurer partners and MGAs. This will encompass providing direct access to HSB's specialist engineering expertise and decision makers via regional teams, supporting more flexible and effective trading with business partners.

Starting his career at National Vulcan Engineering Group (previously part of the Sun Alliance Group), Terry has held a variety of senior roles in the insurance industry, from front-line sales to strategic business leadership. 

He joined HSB in 2019 and was appointed Commercial Director in 2022, where he successfully led the company's sales, business development, partnerships and operational teams.
