Munich Re has been involved for many years in acute (natural) disasters, providing financial assistance for emergency measures and sustainable remediation projects.

Munich Re first began working with the aid organisation Save the Children Germany in 2018, when it made donations to fund relief efforts after the flooding disaster in Laos and India (Kerala), and also after the tsunami in Indonesia. It is also supporting a Save the Children prevention project in Delhi/ India, aimed at reducing the risk to school pupils and slum dwellers relating to disasters and climate change, as well as reducing everyday risks.

Our successful cooperation will now continue in 2019, this time based on a solid partnership. ‘In Save the Children, we are very pleased to have found a reliable and globally networked partner to assist with our involvement in providing assistance after natural disasters’, said Renate Bleich, Head of Sustainability at Munich Re.

As the world’s leading organisation for children’s rights, Save the Children is committed to the rights and protection of children worldwide. Its international projects and programmes focus on the areas of survival, education and protection – both in acute crisis situations and over the long term. Save the Children was established in 1919 and is currently running projects in 120 countries.
