Climate-KICs Accelerator: third round of sidecall to start

Since October 2017 Munich Re and ERGO are fostering start-ups with ideas for dealing with climate change as part of the largest public-private climate initiative in the European Union – Climate-KIC. The third sidecall starts on June 18 and start-ups are invited to apply until July 29.
From June 18 to July 29, new entrepreneurs in the field of cleantech are invited to submit their application for the accelerator programme of Climate-KIC. In this third common sidecall of its kind sponsored by Munich Re and ERGO, another three startups will receive individual mentoring from Munich Re and ERGO in addition to the financial support of up to € 95,000. In turn, Munich Re and ERGO will gain access to the innovatively creative ideas of the founders. The programme has three phases, with funding for up to 18 months.
Two rounds of call for tenders have already been carried out in the past 9 months. The following six start-ups made the race in the first two batches: Nüwiel with e-trailers for cargo bikes and the concept of last-mile delivery in cities, Refurbed with the refurbished electronic equipment sales platform and Twingz, who develop software for smart energy management and damage prevention; the second batch saw PAVE Group, with its AI-based app aiming to reduce construction waste, Daphne Technology developse a catalyst-free technology that helps shipping companies to comply with air emissions regulations and Twaice with its digital twins for batteries which can be used to lengthen the lifetime and warranty of batteries.
Munich Re and ERGO sponsor the start-up programme as part of their “Tackling climate change together” initiative. With their expertise and shared-value approach Munich Re and ERGO, are a perfect match for the Climate-KIC innovation community, which focuses on climate change. All three partners will create a broad network of experts that the subsidized start-ups can call upon.
