From December 18 to January 25, new entrepreneurs in the field of cleantech start-ups are invited to submit their application for the accelerator programme of Climate-KIC. In the sidecall sponsored by Munich Re and ERGO, the startups receive individual mentoring from Munich Re and ERGO in addition to the financial support of up to € 95,000. In turn, Munich Re and ERGO will gain access to the innovatively creative ideas of the founders. The programme has three phases, with funding for up to 18 months.

The first call for tenders, which started in October 2017, saw the success of the following three startups: Nüwiel with e-trailers for cargo bikes and the concept of last-mile delivery in cities, Refurbed with the refurbished electronic equipment sales platform and Twingz, who develop software for smart energy management and damage prevention.

Munich Re and ERGO sponsor the start-up programme as part of their “Tackling climate change together” initiative. With their expertise and shared-value approach Munich Re and ERGO, are a perfect match for the Climate-KIC innovation community, which focuses on climate change. All three partners will create a broad network of experts that the subsidized start-ups can call upon.
