Nikolaus von Bomhard "Insurance Leader of the Year"

Nikolaus von Bomhard, Chairman of Munich Re's Board of Management, is to be honoured as the 2012 Insurance Leader of the Year by St. John's University's School of Risk Management.

New York, Munich. The Insurance Leader of the Year accolade, presented annually since 1995, is awarded to industry leaders for distinguished achievement over a long career or for special achievement in the year of recognition.

Nikolaus von Bomhard is to receive this honour for 2012. According to Brian Duperreault, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc., as well as Chairman of the Board of Overseers of the School of Risk Management, and Brandon W. Sweitzer, Dean of the School of Risk Management, the decision to select Nikolaus von Bomhard was based on widespread admiration for von Bomhard's corporate stewardship in service to all Munich Re stakeholders, his widely acknowledged personal approach to leadership and his stance on economic and political issues in these testing times.

The School of Risk Management was founded in 1901 as the Insurance Society of New York. It was merged with St. John's University, New York, in 2001. The official awards ceremony will take place on 16 January 2013 in New York.
