On 21 and 22 June, 2010, Munich Re held a high profile Climate Summit at the EXPO in Shanghai. Experts from all over Greater China discussed the risks of climate change and the opportunities from mitigating and adapting to global warming. In China, an estimated 200 million people are impacted by natural catastrophes every year. The rising number of severe weather-related natural catastrophes is increasing losses and impacting economic development. Munich Re’s CEO Dr. Nikolaus von Bomhard attended the summit. On the side he gave an interview to Reuters Insider TV to talk about Munich Re’s strategy in Asia.
