Curriculum vitae

Mari-Lizette Malherbe was born in 1984 in Pretoria, South Africa.

She studied financial and actuarial mathematics at the University of Pretoria, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Ms. Malherbe began her professional career in September 2007 as an actuarial assistant at Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa in Johannesburg, and continued there as a marketing actuary. From 2011, Ms. Malherbe worked for the Munich Re Group as an actuary in the life reinsurance sector in various pricing roles – in addition to Johannesburg, also in Munich Re's life branches in London and Beijing. At the beginning of 2016, she assumed the position of Head of Pricing and Marketing at the UK Life Branch, before being promoted to Commercial Director in 2018 and, later this year, to Chief Executive. From November 2020, she also headed the Life and Health Reinsurance Europe and Latin America Division at Munich Reinsurance Company.

With effect from 1 January 2023, Ms. Malherbe has been appointed a member of Munich Reinsurance Company’s Board of Management with responsibility for Life and Health.
