AI-based automated underwriting

With Realytix Zero, Munich Re has developed a scalable automated underwriting platform. The cloud-based low-code platform is used within Munich Re and by our clients as Software-as-a-Service offering. Through an API centric design, it can leverage our ecosystem of data sources, integrate machine learning algorithms and integrate seamlessly into other systems.

Advanced data analytics solutions

Munich Re provides an innovative data-pooling platform for its clients. By applying our risk know-how and expertise in advanced data analytics on client’s exposure and claims data, we provide an unique value proposition in the insurance industry. Business and technology experts collaborate in an agile product team, combining data analytics and engineering capabilities with state-of-the-art visualization and frontend design in a web / cloud native infrastructure.

Cyber security for Google Cloud

In partnership with Allianz and Google Cloud, Munich Re created a tailored cyber security offering for Google Cloud customers. We developed the technical platform based on APIs and data feeds to allow real-time cyber security assessments of cloud customers and automated underwriting of cyber insurance coverages in Google’s Cloud Protection+ offering.

The structure of our Global IT organization supports the growth and success of the diverse business lines of Munich Re across the world, while offering growth and development opportunities for our IT team members.

Business Technology

Our team of Business Technology colleagues manages the lifecycle of digital innovation initiatives, starting from the initial idea generation all the way to the successful commercialization and operation of new revenue streams. Business Technology also enables digitalization, data and analytics within Munich Re’s core businesses, to re-imagine the way that our colleagues work internally and serve the clients of our primary and reinsurance customers.

Business Solutions

Our Business Solutions departments are comprised of product management teams that deliver value through the management of IT products including client management, underwriting, risk management and claims, and the execution of transformation projects that drive change on our technology landscape. Business Solutions colleagues also play a crucial role in maintaining strong relationships across various business domains, representing all IT service functions to ensure that business needs are met and that we are compliant with the global regulatory environments that we operate within.

Enterprise Architecture

To enable new business models, cost-efficient operations, and the sustainability of technology investments, it is essential to continuously review Munich Re’s IT architecture. Our Enterprise Architecture team supports the pace, quality and compliance of our transformation programs through the development of target architectures, technology roadmaps and patterns for re-use as a driving force for speed and agility. Our Enterprise Architecture colleagues define and maintain a holistic, and proactive approach to managing the IT architecture.

Office of the CIO

The Office of the CIO develops our overall IT strategy, managing the governance of Munich Re IT organizations around the world and compliance with regulatory, policy and audit standards. This team serves as the central communication hub to share information throughout our global IT organization.

Service Management

Service Management is key to driving continuous improvement in the quality and compliance of IT service delivery to Munich Re’s businesses, with a focus on how we manage change, maintain stability and handle incident and problem management. This involves measuring and monitoring various aspects of service performance, delivery and support processes, handling escalations and task forces, and managing performance analysis to drive continuous improvement.

Service Delivery

Service Delivery provides infrastructure design, delivery and management services to support Munich Re’s business applications and IT platforms. We prioritize continuous optimization of service delivery, focusing on standardization and automation to streamline processes and improve overall efficiency. Our goal is to ensure that our infrastructure services are delivered consistently and meet the needs of our organization while managing technologies proactively to achieve leading cost efficiency.

IT Risk and Security

IT Risk and Security plays a vital role in defining, monitoring, and ensuring the implementation of global IT security standards that align with our risk appetite. This team continuously monitors and assesses the ever-evolving IT risk landscape, identifying potential threats and vulnerabilities, and taking appropriate measures to mitigate risks. Their focus is to safeguard our systems, data, and operations, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our IT assets.
