About us

Munich Re is a key player in the UK non-life reinsurance market with a history in London that goes back to 1890, when the city’s reinsurance market was in its infancy. Since then, the company has maintained a constant presence, and has seen London develop into one of the world’s most important insurance industry hubs.

In August 2007, the Munich Re non-life team joined colleagues from other Munich Re units in the extensively refurbished building Plantation Place in London. The move brought together representatives from all areas of our UK non-life business – with the exception of treaty activities and Lloyd’s business, which are all handled via Munich – at a single location.

Our London-based experts work in close cooperation with colleagues at our main headquarters in Munich to serve the needs of the UK non-life market. As a result, clients profit from our local insights as well as expertise and capacity to do business on an international scale.
