PODRA Health (PillarOne Dynamic Reinsurance Analysis Health) is a tool developed by Munich Re to describe and measure underwriting risks in the non-life health insurance segment.

A PODRA Health is a joint project in several phases, with individual stages providing services ranging from business analysis and modelling and data preparation and calibration to risk mitigation and risk assessment. The stochastic process is based on the PillarOne.RiskAnalytics software platform:

• Identification and quantification of the significant underwriting risk drivers in the portfolio analysed
• Impact of reinsurance on the portfolio and its components

This creates an initial basis for the development and optimisation of future reinsurance solutions. A PODRA Health thus provides an indication of the prospects of using reinsurance effectively for cedants that are using a (partial) internal model or are interested in doing so.
