Graduate trainee programme in reinsurance
Mainly for economists, mathematicians, lawyers, engineers (m/f)
Your tasks
If you want to shape the future with Munich Re, you will need first-class qualifications and a firm grounding in professional, methodological and social skills, which is precisely what you will acquire from our graduate trainee programme. Over a period of 18 months, you will complete a thorough, all-round training programme during which you will learn about the different activities of a leading global reinsurer and further your own personal development. This modular programme is designed to prepare you for a wide choice of roles rather than a specific position.
Within the training programme, the training focus will depend on the ultimate objective. In the case of most graduate trainees, the emphasis will be on risk underwriting in Munich Re’s core business, reinsurance. We also offer graduate trainee positions in our central divisions, mainly in accounting, financial control or investments. Your on-the-job training will therefore take place in an underwriting department or central division, where you will learn the fundamental skills and gradually take on more responsibility within your team.
In addition to on-the-job training, you will also take part in INTOP, our Intensive Training and Orientation Programme. This comprises seminars and project work to give you the professional and methodology expertise you will need and enhance your personal skills. To round off the programme, you will spend time in other departments and at a unit outside Germany.
Qualifications
You will have completed your studies quickly and obtained a very good final degree.
Candidates interested in risk underwriting should ideally have completed internships in the insurance industry or financial services sector and/or have selected a corresponding specialist area of study.
Candidates in "Accounting/Controlling/Investments” require initial experience in the respective field.
You will have a very good command of German and English and have gained intercultural experience from a spell of at least several months abroad. In addition, you will have demonstrated your analytical and social skills in internships, ideally showing that you have an affinity for insurance and financial issues. Personal commitment, good communication skills and empathy round off your profile.
